The cerakote looks nice and feels smooth on the outside, but the texture of the inside surface where the bolt carrier rides is pretty rough. Some commenters on Practical Machinist recommend sanding the inside of these with fine grit sandpaper, but I hate to have to do that to a brand new part that's supposed to be finished. Other people recommend just shooting it, but they don't mention how abrasive the cerakote is likely to be to the bolt carrier. Haven't decided whether I'm going to try to sand the interior cerakote down or just return it.

Built a CMMG RBD 9 mm upper using one of these last year. I liked it so much I'm building a second one for my wife. It's a tighter fit for the barrel than the CMMG mk4 upper but it works if you use a heat gun on it along with Aeroshell.

I purchased this to build a 450 Bushmaster pistol. The receiver is very well made and the fit is very snug with the Anderson lower I was using. It has an enlarged ejection port for the large caliber cartridges. Top rear of receiver marked “XL”, also T-marked. I’ve purchased and used several of these upper receivers and they’ve always worked great.

High quality upper. I’ve bought several of these to build AR’s in 450 Bushmaster, 458 SOCOM, and 12.7×42. This upper works with all these large bore cartridges. Finish on the upper is excellent. I usually use an Aero Precision lower to match the upper but I’ve used them with other brand lowers and they work well with all of them. Charging handles from different makes all work well in these uppers and cartridges feed flawlessly through them. The price for these uppers is very reasonable. I never had any issues with these uppers. They all work well.

Not much more than an Anderson upper & necessary for .450 Bushmaster or .458 SOCOM. The ejection part is enlarged but it uses standard AR15 upper parts (forward assist & dust (ejection port) cover). The cutout for the port is 3mm higher to allow for ejection of the larger brass of .45 caliber ammunition.
