Put it on a BCM upper with GM4 handguard. Checked headspace and took it out. First 10 rounds was at 1.27 @100yrds on a backpack. Forgot my rest. Next 20 rounds were MOA or sub. This was with an eotech. So I'm definitely happy and impressed. Cleans out with a few patches and good to go. This barrel can only get tighter as the barrel breaks in. With proper optics and handloads this will be unstoppable.

I love these Criterion barrels. This is the second Hybrid version I have purchased. I have not built it up just yet but from my first 16" Hybrid mid barrel free floated build I can give you a review. These are real accurate out of the gate and love the heavier grain projectiles. It can achieve sub moa at 100yds with good ammo no problem. The hybrid profile reduces weight and keeps the rigidity of a hbar for accuracy. These are also used by the USMC combat shooting team so what else can I say, Semper Fi. Good enough for the Corp is good enough for me.

Great company with amazing products. The barrel is chrome lined and hand lapped, has dimples for the gas block and comes in a 1-8 twist! everything I was looking for except a fluted barrel. I went with the 16" Hybrid mid length and it will serve me well for many many years. Price point? Yea it's a little more but you get what you pay for and here at OpticsPlanet the prices are great and there is a friendly staff waiting to help you however they can. – J from O-H

Second barrel i have made by criterion, i have both the 18" and 16" chrome lined Hybrid and both are insanely accurate. Would and have many times recommend to anyone. Many of the people i've recommended to have purchased barrels made by criterion and were not disappointed with their investment.

I must have gotten a bad one because I cannot get this to group under 2moa with anything. Not my first AR build and not my first barrel that I've tried to tune. Even tried handloads (which I usually only do for my bolt guns) and couldn't get it to group with Varget, BLC-2 or RL 15. Shot 55, 69 and 77gr pills and it sprayed them all. I can only chalk this one up to a defect that was not caught by the company. Ive wasted too much time and ammo on this barrel. Time to move on with a different barrel. Will probably try Krieger and hope for better luck.

It is difficult to overstate how impressed I am with this product. Every little “problem” (you know, the little things we put up with because that’s how things are?) I’ve put up with since buying this Stag AR has miraculously disappeared. Those 62 gr. handloads I made that never grouped with either of our Stag 1:9” AR’s (“Why, oh why, did I load 2000 of these unshootable rounds?”) have suddenly started grouping nicely. So, yes, moving to 1:8” twist helps with heavier bullets and will make your carbine more versatile; I’ll be trying 77 gr. loads again soon. Let me interject here that I bought this barrel in both 16”and 18” lengths, the 18” for an additional upper, and the first three shots out of that barrel were about one MOA with a red dot sight – then I had to adjust it on the rest. I have only tried the 16” barrel with MBUS sights for function check but the bullets seem to be going where I want and rapid double taps give about a two foot movement to the right at 100 yards. I’ll assume similar accuracy improvement from the 16” barrel.Which brings me to my second point. Carbines come with carbine length gas systems. Duh! Unless you are an avid three-gunner who needs anything else? Oh, I don’t know…everyone? Increasing the dwell time makes for a smoother, reduced recoil rifle. If you add all the other stuff I’ve already done trying to relieve my rebuilt shoulder from the sharp-ish stock recoil (muzzle brake, balanced bolt, heavier buffer) the thing is virtually recoil free now. Oh, suggestion: I called Criterion and they recommend using an H2 buffer with both my barrels and who am I to argue? The lower had an H2 buffer in it when I tried both barrels, with outstanding results. As far as I’m concerned I’m a Criterion fanboy at this point. Completely changes my AR outlook. All you need is a mid-length gas tube. And may I suggest a Midwest Industies G3 handguard while you’re at it? A terrific combination.
