In my opinion Geissele has some great quality items for the price, and some of their stuff is overpriced because they think they are all that. Either way, these pins are definitely set apart from the status quo and, therefore, deserve the attention. I love the aesthetics of the different texture whether it has a practical application or not. Otherwise they function just like normal pivot/takedown pins.

The Checkered Takedown Pin Set is a snazzy upgrade to any AR build. Looking forward to installing the Geissele Maritime Bolt Catch as well.

The normal takedown pins that come in basically LPK are prone to shear under the right circumstances. (If your pin is extended and you happen to drop your lower, then you might find yourself in the market for a new takedown/pivot pin.)The Geissele Ultra Duty checkered stainless pins are much stronger simply by being solid stainless instead of MIM'd.With these installed, you can have way more confidence in your parts. Geissele's "Super Duty" pins are also stainless, but the Ultra Duty pins have the nice checkering on them. They pair beautifully with the Maritime Bolt Catch and Ultra Duty checkered mag release button, for a nice aesthetic consistency on your setup.Personally I put these on my recce, with the Maritime catch and the Ultra Duty button to match. They're strong, they're stainless, and they're gorgeous!

I bought these to go with the Geissele checkered mag release, maritime bolt catch and 5 axis trigger guard. These are solid takedown pins and they look great. They were a breeze to install these with the real avid pivot pin tool. I would definitely recommend them and would buy again.
