The GG&G MAD BUIS Sight was originally developed to fulfill a request from Naval Surface Warfare for a battle ready low profile back up iron sight that provided both a large and small aperture on the same plane and provide co-witness capability with the majority of red dot optics. The resulting product, the GG&G MAD Multiple Aperture Device BUIS Back Up Iron Sight, has four apertures, two of each size (so that rotating the aperture disc in either direction will bring the next size into view). All apertures are on the same plane and are thus zeroed to the same point of impact. For this reason, the GG&G MAD Iron Sight is sometimes referred to as a flat top sight or a same plane sight. The aperture disc is knurled for easier manipulation in combat environments. The small aperture diameter is 0.073-inch and the large aperture is 0.199-inch in diameter. Windage adjustments are easily made with the GG&G Tactical tactile windage knob. When the GG&G MAD Folding Sight is mounted on the M16A2E4 rifle, one click of the windage knob provides approximately 0.48 MOA change; one click equals about 0.65 MOA when mounted on the AC carbine. Compatible with the M-16, AC Carbine, and the AR10 Rifle, the GGG MAD Sight is attached to a mount body that is CNC manufactured from billet 6061 T6 aluminum alloy and Type III hard coat anodized in a non-reflective black mil-spec finish to provide combat durability. The stem and aperture disc are made from solid billet 4140 steel and have hardened wear points for long service life. All steel components in this GG&G Iron Sight are black manganese phosphated per mil-spec. The GG&G Multiple Aperture Sight overhangs the rear of the receiver by 0.200-inch. This provides a lip so that the sight can be easily deployed even with a gloved hand. The sight stem locks in the up position with a positive mechanical detent system. Once placed in the up position, the sight cannot be folded down without depressing the spring assisted detent release button located on the left side of the sight base. This totally eliminates the possibility of accidentally lowering the multi aperture rear sight. The GG&G BUIS MAD Flip Sight is the lowest profile BUIS with a locking detent and weighs in just over two ounces. The MAD is used by elite armed forces and law enforcement teams word wide. The NSN number for the GG&G MAD Back Up Iron Sight Multiple Aperture Device With Locking Mechanical Detent is NSN 1005-01-527-6333. The GGG MAD Backup Sight is also available with an option for Trijicon Tritium night sight inserts. These work great for true BUIS under or behind optical sights such as ACOG or riflescope, redots etc. Lower profile than those recommended for AR-10.Pros: Easy Install, Very Low Profile, Works on AR-10Cons: No ranging option as on 5.56 version

Sight is great, the lowest that I have seen. Works well under/as back-up for optics. Free Shipping to Alaska would be even better. Shipping was reasonable but not free.Pros: Fits AR-10, Very Low Profile, Easy InstallationCons: No ranging option for 7.62 or 308 Win

Very solid, precision-made product…positive click adjustments…compact, yet very quick to acquire a sight picture. It ain't cheap, but as with most things in life, "You get what you pay for." I would highly recommend GG&G products like this BUIS.
