Great stock. Very accurate and stiff. Full bed aluminium worth the extra money over just pillar bed. Love the overmold soft touch,nice when it's cold. Ordered bottom metals from Savage. Fit and finish excellent. OpticsPlanet had the best price.

This stock was installed on a Savage 11 .308 Trophy Hunter package rifle.Over all this Hogue stock is a HUGE upgrade from the factory flimsy stock that comes with the rifle. The factory plastic stock is loud and the forend flexes terrible if used with a bipod. The Hogue is very quiet compared to the factory and with the full aluminum bed extending down the forend it is now bipod friendly!It is heavier than factory… but in my opinion it actually balances better as the weight is a bit further forward.Finally… what Hogue does NOT tell you is that if you are installing it on one the the Savage stocks that has the "frame assembly" as part of the stock you will NOT be able to simply bolt this stock on to your action. (my reason for 4-stars instead of 5) So in addition to the stock you will need to buy a new metal frame assembly directly from Savage along with a new metal mag bottom. You can still use the factory plastic trigger guard… but why would you want too?!? I can also say that the cheap plastic mag bottom always felt like it was going to pop out othe gun… but with the new metal upgrade it actually "clicks" into the gun. You must pull a metal lever for the mag to drop out… SO much nicer than the plastic version. (fyi – the metal parts come factory on the nicer Savage rifles) The following are the parts needed from Savage to truly make this an AWESOME upgrade over factory:TRIGGER GUARD ASSEMBLY…ITEM CODE# 107217FRAME ASSEMBLY (SHORT)…ITEM CODE# 106705MAG BOTTOM (SHORT)…ITEM CODE# 106245Total cost of these items shipped to my door was roughly $110.If you have a long action (Model 111) then the frame and mag numbers would be different, but i don't have them so just ask Savage when you call.I have not yet shot the gun with the new stock installed, but I anticipate that it will group much tighter with the aluminum bed vs flimsy plastic unsupported stock.
