Wanted a well built pistol buffer tube that was better vented than a bog standard tube with a single vent in the rear. Nothing like pulling the trigger and getting a puff right back at you. Its lighter, if you're inclined to count ounces, I like the extended lip to interface with the buffer spring retainer and bolt carrier. The machining and finish is also high quality. I suppose it does allow for more dirt/dust to be ingested under operation, but I don't think an AR pistol is likely to be intentionally fielded into a combat situation, so probably just a minor concern. If you have a standard buffer spring, the noise will be more pronounced, but paired with a quiet buffer spring, its just smooth.

Put it as an extension on a stribog with a tailhook attached and it looks and functions perfectly. I can't speak to how it would function on an ar15 but it definitely looks good. I don't think that open slots on a buffer tube would be wise on an ar.

If you’re building a super light AR, I’d recommend this or one of the JE Machine’s skeletonized buffer tubes. Unless you have the money to spend on carbon fiber tubes, this is probably the lightest you will find. It also looks good. And in some cases it’s just as light as carbon fiber. It only weighs 3 oz according to my scale.
