This release is a bit longer than the AR15 version. It's nice for DPMS pattern lowers like the Aero Precision M5. It is NOT for the AR15.. It is much too long. I'm buying more for my other 308 big bore lowers. I paired with the Aero button and spring.

So I waited months for this to arrive. No that isn't an exaggeration. Finding a legit mag catch that is made specifically for a 308 and is therefore longer than a mag catch for a 5.56 lower is quite hard to find. Just my luck when I saw this item from optics planet! Except what I got was a mag catch that is the exact same dimensions as a 5.56 mag catch. TLDR: this will not fit a lower if it is wider than a standard 5.56 lower. It definitely won't fit a 308 polymer lower. If I can include pictures of the mag catch side by side a 5.56 mag catch I will include those as well. Last thing I want is anyone else to be duped into waiting let alone paying for a product they can't use for the intended purpose.

I wasn't sure if it was going to be the right one, but when I got it…..BINGO, perfect fit. I ordered the same part from the company I got the lower receiver from and it was still to small. But the part from Optics Planet.COM,

Some of these .308 builds can be a pain. Sometimes you need a little bit more length on the mag catch. It’s only a hair longer, but with an extended button release it’s perfect!

AS ADVERTISED, THIS IS INDEED a .308 MAGAZINE CATCH. The screw is .218" LONGER than an AR-15 Magazine catch. The person in the other reviews that claims it is an AR-15 mag catch doesn't know what he's talking about. He admitted to having a POLYMER LOWER! It most likely uses a much longer rod because they have to make the plastic lowers thicker in order for them to be strong enough and will require an Original Equipment Manufacturer's part for the mag catch. Optics planet should remove both of his ratings. He is misleading people by his ill informed FALSE CLAIM that this Luth-AR .308 Magazine Catch is actually an AR-15 mag catch! IT IS NOT! It is EXACTLY as advertised. It is .210" LONGER than an AR-15 mag catch, just as it should be! Definitely recommended!AR-15 Mag Catch measures 1.250"Luth-AR 308 mag catch measures 1.468"(measured from the outside FLAT surface of both mage catches…apples to apples)
