Tried to loosen the top screw to get the handguard over the gas block & stripped immediately. It was possible to maneuver the handguard on and then slide the gas block & tube in, but it was a pain. Expected better quality.

This rail was exactly what I was looking for, it fit great and the finish was good. The only thing is it had some type of white marks on it, I haven’t tried cleaning them off but looks like some type of marker. It’s going to get painted over so it’s fine with me having it and not worth my time to remove anyway. Still exceeded my expectations.

I contacted Samson Mfg on more than one occasion to verify the weight listed online 12.8oz. After several delays in ordering the lightweight rail I wanted, I ended up giving this one a shot. Well, it is no where near 12.8oz, this porker is 15.2 oz naked. I emailed Samson with pictures of the scale rail and barrel nut asking for an explanation. Crickets is all I have received. In addition to the weight being off, there where no T-markings or Logos on the rail I received. The images found online do not accurately reflect the current product or they just sent out an unfinished rail to meet demand. I don't know and I don't care. Questions are asked to avoid incompatibilities and avoid delays. Now, I have to send this back and wait 6 months for OP to credit my account. By then guns will be banned and the dollar will be worthless lol.

Let me begin with a brief background, I have been trying to finish a lightweight LR-308 build for what seems like forever. There have been several delays and parts availability is less than ideal in our present climate. After having placed and canceled orders due to backorders on several handguards for the build, I decided to give Samson Mfg a shot. I had e-mail correspondence with their marketing director discussing the exact weight of the rail and the importance of it for this specific build. Upon arriving the rail was inspected and weighed. It came in at 15.2oz with the barrel nut, which was NOT the 12.8oz noted on their website or what I was told by their staff. To many of you, this may not be a big deal however, in my case it was! Along with the weight being off the pictures, I found online did not accurately represent the product I received. The photos I found had numbered T-slots and a Samson logo located above the barrel nut. Another issue was the small chips in the anodizing along the Picatinny sections and set screw mounts. This is a small detail some of you may overlook, but I expected to receive a perfect rail. It can be Cerakoted, but it is a matter of principle and customer service. That being said, I do love the look of the rail. It is a clean and simple design that provides an excellent ergonomic grip with a solid lock up. The machining is top-notch and I wouldn't hesitate to compare it to an SLR Ion lite without the QD mounts and $100 added cost. This would be an excellent option for someone looking for a high-quality rail at a reasonable price. It is worth noting the rail comes with everything needed to install (hex wrench, barrel nut, barrel nut adapter).
