This enhanced bolt catch has proven to be a significant upgrade over the standard mil-spec bolt catch that came on my AR-15's. I primarily shoot left-handed, so it's MUCH easier for me to engage this bolt catch with my (left) trigger finger. This bolt catch is made out of steel and has a finish that is identical to the standard mil-spec bolt catch that it replaced; it's not lighter or darker than mil-spec. It also has a clean form factor that isn't gaudy or intrusive; it doesn't stick out much further from the lower receiver than a standard mil-spec bolt catch. The upper and lower levers are angled just enough that it's much easier to either lock or release the bolt carrier group. Note that the "SI" acronym for "Strike Industries" on the upper lever is painted white, but as i said, it looks great and isn't flashy.I replaced the mil-spec bolt catch on my M&P 15 Sport II and the increase in ergonomics is night-and-day. The best part about this upgrade is that it's very cheap and comes with all the supplemental parts you need to install it. One final note, I also have an Arms Unlimited ambidextrous magazine release installed, and this bolt catch by Strike Industries does NOT interfere with its operation at all.

This bolt catch is a huge step up from the regular milspec bolt catch, especially for the price. The larger pad to press to hold the bolt open is great for when you need to clear your chamber during ceasefires, and the design is nice too. Not too bold, but still adds a bit of uniqueness to your rifle

Strike Industries got it right with this. I used duty M4A1 rifles for years. The milspec bolt catch was always just lacking. It was hard to activate with thick gloves on, got caught on the sling… it's not great. Sorry, Eugene. But I love this bolt catch. It's thick, easy to find, and rounded on the edges while still providing enough friction to not slip off during use. I love how the bolt hold-open lever is wider and more positive feeling. And the bolt release lever is large enough that I can just as easily slap it home with my palm as with a gentle press of the finger. Well done, SI. I'll be buying these for all my rifles.

I do A LOT of rifle training in my job as a firearms trainer for a contract security company. I have been firing the AR platform In one form or another since 1980 and have used everything from mil-spec catches to super gaudy. I have found this catch to fit my sweet spot beautifully. Not too big, not too small, NOT TOO EXPENSIVE. Will get one of these for my next build for sure.

Easy to install. Installed on 4 ARs.Two AR9s, Two AR 5.56. They are all around just better than Mil Spec. Better than those other $65 ones.Highly recommended.

Great ergonomic improvement over the standard AR bolt catch. Always hated the tiny button digging into my thumb when locking the bolt open. Easy install and haven't had any issues after 500+ rounds.
