Specifications for Superlative Arms AR15 .750in Solid Adjustable Piston System: Manufacturer: Superlative Arms Color: Black Coating: Melonite QPQ Fabric/Material: 416 Stainless Steel Weight: 12.8 oz Condition: New Attachment Type: Screw Finish: Melonite QPQ Features of Superlative Arms AR15 .750in Solid Adjustable Piston System The pressure used in the block is reduced only to the amount required to drive the bolt carrier. The remaining gas and pressure are bled out of the block allowing the system to run much cleaner and cooler. Reduction of wear on the bolt carrier group components and upper receiver. Reduction of felt recoil allowing for faster follow-up shots. Patented adjustment detent is located outside of the block and therefore no contamination. In Bleed Off Mode the gas adjustment screw does not restrict the gas flow; therefore, there is no erosion or seizing of the screw, and no loss of detent due to carbon build up. Although it is removable, we have added a safety mechanism, which stops you from unintentionally backing the screw all the way out. When using SBRs and/or suppressors the Bleed Off port allows the excessive pressure to be exhausted out of the block reducing blow back. Pretty easy to install. I liked it so much on my 5.56 I picked one up for a 300 blackout build. The big downside is its a little pricey and you still have to pick up a bolt group. There are some good YouTube videos out there that will answer any questions you have. They helped me when i was trouble shooting my mistake.

Recently I built an AR15 using a Rosco 12.5" barrel and the Aero M4E1 receiver set. I wasn't sure if the superlative piston system would be a good choice, but after my first trip to the range I was very pleased with how well this product preforms. If you're familiar with Piston vs Direct Impingement and what benefits a piston system offers such as a cleaner, more reliable and over all cooler running rifle. You will not be disappointed with this product because it delivers in all areas and then some. I was very happy with the ease of installation and the simplicity of the first use. As I started to put more and more rounds through. I was happy to see the claim of reliability was also true all be it with some slight adjustments and a little trial and error. That is one thing when you fire your first few rounds you will have to adjust the settings with the screw on the front of the gas block to get it to cycle properly but it is very easy. It does not have an easy to adjust lever or built in way to adjust it so you will need to use the supplied allen key, but with that being said this provides more options and I don't mind having to use a tool if that is going to give me the ability to tune my rifle exactly how I want it. With other adjustable gas blocks you find yourself having to settle for whatever setting is closest to where you want to be and with the Superlative you can choose exactly where your rifle works best. That is not my favorite part of the system though, that would be how easy maintenance after heavy range day is. I would dare to say you will have a 95% cleaner running rifle vs direct impingement. Cleaning time will be cut down to a fraction of what it used to be and as a veteran and it being burned into my mind that either I keep my weapon clean or I die, this is a no brainer and I will not make another AR that isn't piston driven. Granted I may try other systems but this one paved the way in my mind and I am definitely happy with my purchase. My only downside of the system is that under heavy use you will experience your handguard getting hot and dirty since the gas vents right up and out under it. Other than that great system and probably wont be my last.

I have had this system in my AR for a few years now and I have put a couple thousand rounds threw the rifle with zero problems. My rifle runs cleaner and cooler. All of my future builds will have this in them

Built a quality .5 moa target rifle, and it turned into a daily. Unfortunately, just to dirty. Have an LWRC IC-SPR love how clean and accurate it is pretty much all the time, so I converted my build with this SA piston kit. Simple installation, fit perfectly and more importantly, the moa wasn't affected. About 1000 rounds through her thus far and not a single issue. Since I'm not going to use a can on this 5.56, I started with the recommended setting and haven't needed to adjust the gas block since. Note: I did use the piston spring but not the receiver bushing (didn't fit anyway). Thumbs up!

I had some high hopes for this product after reading some reviews and watching video reviews. However, the piston rod bent the very first time at the range. Adjusted 4.5 turns to fully open, turned 15 more clicks for halfway open on the gas bleed off side for a starting point. Adjusted a few clicks back in until the bolt would catch on an empty mag. Added one more click just to be safe. Shot 60 rounds of cheap Russian ammo at first, some semi and some full auto bursts. Switched to Hornady factory 5.56 55gr Frontier for 60 more rounds. Didn't notice anything different except a higher rate of fire, which is to be expected. No issues at the range once dialed in. Got it home and took it apart for a cleaning, instantly noticed the piston rod was bent in two spots. I've inspected the upper and found no other damage or issues except the rod. Installation was simple and I had no issues with that part. Everything lined up and ran smoothly during functions tests. I've installed tons of gas blocks and some Adams Arms piston systems with zero issues. I work on firearms everyday as my job. The system was definitely installed correctly. They claim they've tested these beyond 10,000 rounds using full auto. Not sure I believe that now.

If you want a cheap piston ar15 then get this I guess. However compare to tradional DI this is still expensive. It doesnt come with bolt assembly so add 80 bucks, then theres the problem of bolt tilt, reliability, weight, and fitting. The gas block BARELY fits in most mlok handguards, but will likely touch when firing. Bcg looks meh… Overall id say you are trading reliability to clean the gun less. If piston is that important to you, just get mcx or pws upper. You'd be much happier.
