Installation Instructions Handguard Installation instructions In order to install your new handguard, you will need the following tools: 30mm Wrench 5/32″ Hex Screwdriver Thread Locker (optional) Once you have installed your barrel in your upper receiver, thread the barrel nut onto the upper and tighten down to 35-65 foot pounds. After you have installed your gas block and tube assembly, slide the handguard over the barrel nut. You may apply Loctite to the exterior of the barrel nut across the knurled surface for added grip. You will need to apply some force to the rail when going over the barrel nut as the knurling is designed to mar the interior surface of the rail, adding additional grip. Align the rail with your receiver and put the mounting screws in the drilled holes from the left side of the upper receiver and proceed to tighten them down to 3 foot-pounds (36 inch-pounds). Do not torque screws more than 3 foot-pounds. Exceeding this force may strip the threads. So light. Lighter than carbon fiber. I've ran this in the field for a few months. love the finish. Best fit for a lightweight build. Price was reasonable. Carbon fiber handguards are outrageously priced.

I received mine a few weeks back and finally got all my parts in, while attempting to install my barrel nut over my faxon pencil barrel, I noticed it will not thread onto the upper receiver. I hope OpticsPlanet can resolve this issue.

Others have mentioned the barrel nut and now I'm here to report that the QD holes are grossly undersized. My sling, Magpul MS4, fits all my other guns, but not this forearm. I guess I have to drill my brand new forearm because the mfg couldn't be bothered.

I am really just looking for the lightest build that doesnt break. So I wasnt going to purchase any magnesium parts. Been there before. But after buying the little pic sections I read this some crazy alloy that has infused nano particles… future is here I guess. anyway just wanted to leave a review because its exactly what I wanted. Light but still functional. Very impressed by this so far. I do abuse my stuff. Pretty utlitarian. If it breaks Ill come back and leave another review.

I previously left a 1 star review for the barrel nut being out-of-spec. Optics planet's customer service sent out a replacement barrel nut the next day. The replacement barrel nut was in-spec and did work. Overall, Optics Planet has been great to work with and I am happy with the rail itselft. The barrel nut leaves a lot to be desired. I did a 5 star rating to balance out my original 1 star rating, which results in an average 3 star review. I do think this currently is a 3 star product due to the barrel nut. However, I ended up using a Midwast Industries barrel nut which is lighter and about $15. There is less surface area than the original Trybe barrel nut, but I was going for a budget friendly lightweight build, so I cared more about weight than strength. The magnesium rail is about 4.4 ounces, and with the Midwest Industries barrel nut, the total was 6.3oz, which was perfectly acceptable for a budget LW AR15 rifle. I used Loctite 620 on the barrel nut after function testing to give additional strength. Overall I think the rail worked for what I wanted. A 5lb rifle that ended up costing less than $700 due to sales, deals and shopping around.

These handguards are super light weight and the cerakote paint is an added bonus! And the magnite barrel nuts save a bunch of unneeded weight on my build!!! 10/10 recommend
