   I bought this handguard for my first pistol build. I was really skeptical at first about it because of the low price and the manufacturer has a perceived reputation for being of low quality. That isn't the case at all! This product is very well built, fits very snug and honestly, looks pretty cool.I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants an inexpensive yet very functional and well built handguard!

   I have own this model of hand guard before in other rifles and I had made the mistake of selling without replacing this VISM hand guard and reinstalling the old one back. So here I am getting another…. I will not make that mistake again. I have tested just about everything for a carbine and some were ok others terrible. VISM has a really good product here it’s very well made and tough. Can’t speak for others people’s needs but this is a winner for me. Don’t overlook this product you just might miss on a really good AR accessory. Thank you optics planet. I originally order the wrong size hand guard and optics planet took me step by step to make a proper exchange. My hand guard arrived today. Thank you OPTICS PLANET�� ��.

   This was my 4th hand guard I tried on my Smith And Wesson M&P 15. VISM is a drop in type and fit perfect. I had it installed in a minute. No modification on my S&W MP15 what so ever. It looks great to. I had tried and liked the Leaper UTG mid length but it was so rough on my hands and way too heavy. VISM is perfect for the carbine length, not heavy and very smooth on the hands. Come with 2 short pieces of T rail to. So now I can mount a light and more. The hand guard gives you a couple extra inches to hold on.. or mount items away from your hand. I'm very happy.. Thanks Optics planet!! And of course VISM!

   It doesn't fit without a little modification. I had to go and buy a Dremel tool, it's an easy mod.. No problem got it to fit and it looks great on the AR-15 platform.. That's my reason for the three stars..

   I’ll keep it topical and brief (or so one first sergeant said at opening formation, and then failed to achieve on both); this is a solid buy if you’re just looking for a decent upgrade that’s got a little more curb appeal than the an MOE, and as you already own a cheese grater, you’ll also pass on the quad rail as well. There are other drop ins, but triangular hand guards give me erections, and it was cheap enough that I said why not…it gives it a bit of a retro future look, let’s me retain my front sight post, and that’s all it really needs to do.

   This hand guard works fine as it is intended. That said I am going to start with the cons, and end with the pros. First off It gets hot, and stays hot. If you intend to just go out and do some long range slow fire its fine. If you intend to shoot fast and long it will heat up really fast. It is also thin. I have not bent it, but with heavy use it will bend really easy. The finish is not the best either it will scratch up pretty easy. This item is great for limited use, but I'm sure that for 50 bucks you dont expect much more than a range plinker. With that said however; it is a great platform for bench shooting, and does not wiggle or flex. It will provide a platform for you to mount the little extras you feel you need. If you do not intend to abuse this item, it will work just fine. I would not trust my life with this item. You probably dont either.
